- The Necropolises
- Funeral plots
Necropolises differed radically from the settlement in their spatial demarcation, a combination of peripheral ditches and banks. Some have an entrance made through a breach in the ditch and a tomb is placed there. The strict partitioning of the world of the dead from that of the living is indisputable. The community (family?) claimed a piece of ground which they then used to make an eternal resting place for their dead. Structures which could cover as much as 100m2 topped an important tomb, with other, related tombs with less imposing structures (family hierarchy?) nearby.
