Aux sources de l'Archéologie nationale

Destinée à produire cartes et dictionnaires topographiques, la Commission de Topographie des Gaules entreprend entre 1858 et 1879 des travaux nombreux pour identifier sur le terrain des sites archéologiques. Relevés, photographies, rapports, estampages sont les témoins aujourd'hui dispersés d'une activité intense qui jette les bases d'une archéologie scientifique.
