The study of the organization of the houses inside the village perimeter is crucial to understanding the social dynamics of the community.
Based on the interpretation of the general layout of the posts, the task is rendered more complex by the presence, of contemporary and successive set of posts at the same level. Establishing the layout of a village means locating piles from the same period through typological studies and dendrochronology.
At Chalain and Clairvaux, maps of five villages allow us to follow the development of the village space between the 35th and 29th century BCE. This evolution shows how the communities rapidly changed, because of what seems to be the struggle between two cultural and social traditions.
